Partners In EducationContinental Carbon supports community programs and Volunteerism





In April 2005, the Phenix City, Alabama plant and Westview Elementary School (WES) launched a new partnership called Partners in Education.  CCC and the Phenix City plant provide the school with valuable materials and human resources in support of several programs.

Since the establishment of the partnership, employees of the Phenix City plant have been very active in WES. The following are some examples how company volunteers have helped WES:

    • Implemented a weekly reading program in which employees read to students one hour per week throughout the school year

    • Provided reading resources and kindergarten teacher supplies

    • Participated in programs such as a garden tool drive for the 4-H club and a Home Depot wood workshop

    • Volunteered for teachers at lunch during teacher appreciation week

    • Helped with gardening projects and clean up projects

    • Served as judges for science fair projects

    • Sponsored quarterly and all-year perfect attendance awards

Helping better prepare the next generation of community members is a privilege for CCC volunteers.
