Facts & News: CCIL (Continental Carbon India Ltd)
In the News
The 25-year-old carbon black plant, acquired in October 2000, is ISO 9002 certified.
Since the acquisition by CCC, the production output has grown by over 40% with only minor refinements and streamlined resources.
In 2001 and 2002, the International Finance Corporation ("IFC") provided the necessary funding to support CCIL's upgrade and expansion plans. Utilizing the best carbon black manufacturing technologies from CCC, Team CCIL completed a comprehensive program to further improve quality of its products and to raise plant production capacity to 65,000 metric tons. The upgrade and expansion was successfully completed in early 2004.
Labor
CCIL successfully negotiated a bipartite three-year Wage Contract with its Associate Staff union effective 1st September 2001 through 31st August 2004.
Environmental
Environmental conservation and protection is embedded in the corporate philosophy of CCIL. As far back as 1988, the plant pioneered the design and commissioning of an add-on composite pollution control/power generation system. It not only controls air emissions but is also provides cogen power for complete plant operation.
CCIL operates a dissolved air floatation effluent treatment plant that ensures only clean water is discharged from the factory. An elaborate water recycling system has now been installed to reuse and thereby conserve the scarce water resource.
Although all requisite Government air and water consents have been regularly granted, CCIL has always gone beyond in its efforts to inculcate environmental preservation as a habit and a way of life and is always assimilating new ideas and techniques that can eliminate potential sources of pollution.
