Continental Carbon Company’s recent developments in flame and catalyst technology are leading to a new product line of multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) . CCC’s unique, metal-free catalyst synthesis offers a continuous process for the commercial production of high quality multiwall carbon nanotubes.
CCC can supply straight MWNTs in a variety of diameters and aspect ratios. Diameter distributions are well-controlled with an average diameter value of 35-50 nanometers. Aspect ratios are on the order of 100:1 or 200:1, dependent upon reactor conditions. Relatively straight, un-entangled nanotubes (as shown in the SEM photomicrographs) creates easy, effective dispersions of the MWNTs in polymer matrices.
Additional MWNTs products contain wider diameter distributions (50 – 150 nanometers; Aspect ratio = 100:1) or a bimodal mixture of diameters and aspect ratios (140 - 240 nanometers/400 -600 nanometers; Aspect ratios = 15:1 /3:1, respectively). Typical aggregate diameters range from 25 - 50µm.
Carbon nanotubes have a broad spectrum of applications in existing markets due to their unique properties of reinforcement, electronic, and thermal dissipation.
