Sr. I&E Specialist


Department: Production
Reports To: Ponca City General Plant Manager
Location: Ponca City, Oklahoma

Main Function:
  • Responsible for improving process controls reliability,
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of instrumentation and controls.
  • Responsible for insuring consistency between locations.
  • Responding to and resolving instrumentation and control issues in US plants.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the development and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems for Sunray, Ponca City, and Phenix City Plants.
  • Responsible for insuring consistency between locations and meet corporate expectations and standards.
  • Development of instrumentation installation drawings, data sheets and specifications, to be in full compliance with recognized industry standards, safety standards.
  • Develop technical tabulation to support the selection of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Assist in the technical development of assigned plant project P&IDs..
  • Assist in the development of I &E project schedules and manpower requirements.
  • Provide support for procurement of instrument items.
  • Manage convert DCS from PROVOX to Delta V and other software upgrades.
  • Insure the plants have the right people and training to operate and maintain the company’s instrumentation and control systems.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high degree of reliability in all controls, instrumentation and emission monitoring systems.
  • Develop programs to prevent accidents and maintain safe working conditions.
  • Respond when and where needed during emergency downtime situations or when problems occur.

Education and Experience:
  • Effective computer skills
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Automation Professional Certification or Engineering degree
  • Minimum 10 years experience in the automation field
  • DCS experience

Travel Percentage:
  • Moderate, 20% to 30%
  • May include extended periods of time several weeks or months.

Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders and stairs; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus. Must work in any environment common to each location day or night, twelve months of the year. Must be able to traverse extremely uneven surfaces and work at elevated heights which may be over one-hundred feet above the ground.
