Superintendent, Maintenance

Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Manager, Operations
Location: Ponca City, Oklahoma

Main Function:

  • Directs maintenance activities in order to ensure that the plant systems and equipment are kept in excellent working order. Activities are prioritized in order to optimize Plant efficiency and minimize down time.
  • Systematically organizes and prioritizes the department work load.
  • Provides leadership in the development and implementation of plant and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to budget planning, tracks and adjusts expenses to stay within budget.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Secures broad adoption of company priorities: safety is first; environment is second; quality production is third.
  • Implements best maintenance practices and processes.
  • Develops and maintains preventive maintenance programs.
  • Establishes and utilizes KPI’s.
  • Maintains ISO Certification.
  • Supervises Maintenance Department Supervisors.
  • Develops effective, realistic plans for Maintenance Department Activities.
  • Adjusts plans and activities to meet changing organizational needs. Adapts to change quickly and independently.
  • Coordinates and directs maintenance requirements of each department.
  • Understands and supports the missions and values of the organization.
  • Builds teams with diverse skills and strengths.
  • Completes assignments and meets commitments.
  • Accepts accountability for own actions.
  • Pursues problem solutions with a sense of urgency.
  • Maintains clear and consistent performance standards by providing instructive firm guidance.
  • Encourages and motivates employees and defines their roles and responsibilities.
  • Develops Request for Expenditures (RF.E.’s) to obtain capital or expense funding approval for equipment, repairs and projects of the plant.
  • In accordance with policy, procures parts and materials required to sustain Plant operations and facilitate turnarounds as well as for attention to routine and emergency situations.
  • Appraises performance of personnel setting objectives for improvement as necessary.
  • Maintains constant communication with operations and shipping to minimize disruptions due to maintenance activities and to ensure other departments are receiving the necessary attention to operate efficiently and without interruption.
  • Select, train and develop maintenance personnel to provide the highest quality workmanship to the Plant.

Education and Experience
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering required.
  • 10 – 15 years of manufacturing plant experience required, at least 5 years in similar role.
  • People Management, Project Management, Safety and Environmental Management required; computer literate.
